Surface dressing of B1230 Main Road, Gilberdyke

East Riding of Yorkshire Council are planning to undertake surface dressing of the B1230 Main Road in Gilberdyke, provisionally scheduled to commence on 5 June 2025.

The work involves the application of hot bitumen onto the existing road followed by a layer of stone chippings that are rolled in. Any remaining loose chippings will be removed by a road sweeper shortly after and any road markings will be re applied as soon as possible following the treatment.

The process is carried out to seal the carriageway to the ingress of water, this helps to reduce the formation of potholes and also to improve the skid resistant properties to the carriageway. The work is reliant upon dry warm weather, so the start date may be delayed.
